Over the past decade AJ has had the opportunity and honour to walk country, sit in circle, yarn, weave and learn from elders from a number of communities throughout Australia. As custodian of a majestic, ancient piece of land with a number of significant artefacts, AJ has also been learning much in the way of listening deeply. Like many Australians AJ has come to understand that Aboriginal people have a special respect for Nature and that the connection they have with the land is sacred. As AJ has journeyed with elders, Aunties and Uncles she has begun to understand this more and more. She has also come to appreciate a very strong sense of community from them as well as from living in a small community of only 200 people

Through her learning to walk right way she has seen the importance of the fact that
all persons matter. That as Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr would say “All of us belong.
And there are many more Australians now, who understand that we are a people
who celebrate together.”


Two of AJ’s 10 principles of the path of Steward Eldership are based on this awareness:

1 - Dadirri - Deep Listening - to walk right way, silently, heart open.

2 - Summum bonum - Voluntarily serve the highest good with humility.

In honour of this path AJ has become a founding board member of the Yakuway Indigenous

Corporation. Yakuway means to take care and the not for profit aims to support the health and
wellbeing of Indigenous people. As a Board Member, AJ is honoured to support the rollout of
special programs aiming to address issues relating to mental, social, physical and emotional
health and wellbeing of Indigenous people and in particular, elders in the region.

Yakuway Indigenous Corporation aims to provide a culturally safe environment to support Indigenous community members to take their health and wellbeing into their own hands so they can live life well in a holistic way. The key goal for Yakuway is to write a new chapter in the story of Indigenous people in our region. To read more about our mission and big vision visit

Corporate giving. All it takes is a 10 degree shift.

Most organisations and businesses want to do the right thing and be good corporate citizens however many don’t know where to begin when it comes to selecting a worthy cause or charity and finding a way to make a genuine impact on lives in their community.

Well now it’s easy to give with a 10 degree shift in thinking about corporate giving. I believe success equals how many lives you improve so I have partnered with one of my favourite charities that I am a Founding Board Member for - Got Your Back Sista.

For every 10 Degree Shift Culture Workshop I deliver, I make a donation to the Got Your Back Sista charity to fund one Healthy Relationships and self-defence workshop for local high school students. I am committed to raising the consciousness of business and the way it impacts the world around us in ways that require minimal effort but have maximum impact. It’s a win, win, win.

These Healthy Relationships programs in schools run by GYBS allow organisations to do good while getting better and improve future community and workplace cultures by educating our young people about how to create healthy relationships and avoid or leave those that are toxic.
